 Moot Court policy

 

The Moot Court is an integral part of the legal education process, providing students with practical exposure to court proceedings, legal research, and argumentation. The Moot Court Committee (MCC) shall manage all moot court activities and ensure fair participation and skill development for all students.

Objectives

  • To promote advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and professional ethics.
  • To encourage teamwork, research skills, and oral presentations in simulated court settings.
  • To prepare students for national and international moot court competitions

 

Moot Court Committee (MCC)

  • The MCC will consist of faculty members and student representatives.
  • The committee will be responsible for organizing internal moot competitions, selecting teams for external competitions, and overseeing training sessions.

 

Eligibility

  • All students enrolled in the law college are eligible to participate.
  • Participation in national and international moots will be subject to internal selection based on performance in college-level moots.

 

Code of Conduct

  • Participants are expected to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and respect.
  • Any form of misconduct or plagiarism will result in disqualification and disciplinary action.

 

Internal Moot Court Competitions

  • The MCC will organize an internal moot court competition each semester.
  • Teams will be evaluated based on written submissions (memorials) and oral arguments.
  • Winners will receive certificates and the opportunity to represent the college in external competitions.

 

Selection for External Competitions

  • Teams for external competitions will be selected based on their performance in the internal moots and at the discretion of the MCC.
  • Selected teams must submit regular progress reports and practice oral arguments under the guidance of faculty.

 

Funding and Support

  • The college will provide limited financial assistance for registration fees and travel expenses for national and international competitions.
  • Teams are encouraged to seek sponsorships for additional funding.

 

Feedback and Evaluation

  • Detailed feedback will be provided by judges after each round of the competition to help participants improve their skills.
  • Continuous assessment will be carried out during training and practice rounds.

 

Amendments

  • The Moot Court Policy is subject to review and amendment by the Moot Court Committee as needed.
