On the occasion of International Women’s Equality Day 26 th August, the Sensitization Wing of Women’s Cell had conducted an Elocution Competition. Both boys and girl students actively participated and enthusiastically presented their views.

The Women’s Cell conducted a Health Check Up Camp on Friday, 1st March 2024 for Girl Students to celebrate the International Day for Women. The Hemoglobin and BP of 324 girls was checked. The Camp was inaugurated by Hon. Dr. Vishwanath Magdum, Secretary, Council of Education. The Camp was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Chinchnikar of Shrutika Laboratory. Members of the Women’s Cell and staff members of the College were present for the Health Camp.
An Interactive Internship Activity of Pre Law I with the CEO of Kolhapur Zilla Parishad Shri. Santosh Patil and Deputy CEO Ms. Manisha Desai was conducted on Monday 26th February 2024.
The functionaries guided the students regarding the working of Local Self Governments in India, problems faced by them and pointed out remedies to it. They also addressed the questions raised by the students and helped the students develop a positive and realistic approach in understanding the functioning of the PRIs. The Activity was coordinated by Pre Law I students Chandan Ojha and Kabir Wadhwa.
The Election Literacy Club conducted Slogan Writing and Poster Making Competitions on Friday 9th February 2024 to celebrate National Voters Day. The students were given themes related to the importance of Political participation of citizens in a democracy. 43 students participated in Slogan writing and 27 teams participated in Poster Making Competition.
Empower Her: A legal Awareness Program for Women’s Rights was conducted on January 3, 2024, by the Women’s Cell and Library Committee of the College. The program was sponsored by the National Commission for Women. The program marked a significant milestone in empowering its participants. With a focus on imparting crucial knowledge about legal rights and emphasizing the pivotal role of women in the legal landscape, the program left an indelible mark on all attendees.
The inaugural session, graced by the Hon’ble Kavita Agarwal Madam, Principal District and Session Judge Kolhapur, set the tone for the event. Three technical sessions enriched the participants’ understanding of diverse legal aspects. Dr. Gorakh Madrupkar addressed the Medico, Socio-Legal Aspects of MTP and PCPNDT Act during the first session. Adv. Dr. Santosh A. Shah delivered a lecture on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal Act, 2013) in the second session. The third session, led by Dr. Archana A. Thorat, explored the socio-legal and psychological impact of Domestic Violence. The Valedictory Session was chaired by Hon’ble Pritamkumar Patil, Secretary, DLSA, Kolhapur. The program was also graced by Hon’ble Sou. Rajanitai Magdum, President, Council of Education, Hon’ble Dr. Vishwanath Magdum, Secretary Council of Education and Hon’ble Adv. Vaibhav Pednekar, Member, Council of Education.
The presence of 150 participants from different colleges and unorganised sectors including the teachers, underscored the program’s broad reach and impact. The dynamic sessions, coupled with expert speakers, contributed to the success of this initiative, fostering a deeper understanding of legal rights and promoting the active involvement of women in the legal sphere. This event stands as a testament to the commitment to legal education and empowerment at Shahaji Law College.
On December 1, 2023, Shahaji Law College, Kolhapur, organized a guest lecture to celebrate Constitution Day, featuring Shri S. P. Sale, Assistant Commissioner of the Social Welfare Department. The lecture focused on the “Indian Constitution and its pivotal role in promoting social justice”. Mr. Sale highlighted key constitutional provisions that support marginalized communities and foster equality. Students actively engaged in discussions, gaining valuable insights into the practical applications of constitutional rights. The event reinforced the importance of understanding the Constitution in advocating for social justice in society.
